LOT 11 - Pablo Picasso '3.1.54.VII' Litho printed 1959
Pablo Picasso '3.1.54.VII' - Lithograph printed by Mourlot Freres of Paris in 1959, Limited edition of 1500.
At the recommendation of Matisse and Georges Braque, Picasso worked with Mourlot for the first time in 1945. Before he even got to the shop, Picasso knew that Mourlot's lithography would become an important part of his oeuvre, âÂÂHe came like he was going to battle,â Mourlot once said. Twenty years later, Picasso had produced over 400 lithographs for Mourlot as a way of exploring his creative process, making a print in 15 to 20 different states & watching its evolution before creating a finished product.
